Economic Research, Tinbergen Institute I applied for fully funded offers only, was rejected. With the same application basically I got into Cambridge, but not here, so they really are selective. I have a degree in Economics from an Italian university, no research experience, relatively good grades (27.6/30). I would like to know whether it was my grades, my GRE, lack of research, maybe I'll ask... Good luck everybody!

Economic Research, University Of Cambridge I have a degree in Economics from a public Italian university and got 110L as a final grade. My GPA is 27.6/30 and I have 2 study experiences abroad (Harvard and Chulalongkorn) and one internship abroad. Reference letters from standard faculty who knew me quite well. No publications, no research experience except for my thesis because you can't do research as an undergrad in Italy. I mentioned some professors I would like to work with at Cambridge and I think that might have helped. Didn't get funding so far :(

Computer Science, ETH Zurich Italian student from good university (not a polytechnic). High GPA, 29.3/30. Good recommendation letters, no research experience (I hadn't started my thesis yet when I applied), some CS-related extracurricular experiences. Absolutely terrible SOP, but as one can guess it has little to no weight. Obviously no GRE since it's not needed for European students.
