Economics, Yale University Econ phd offer holder, primary field is not dev econ. Applied to some masters programs as my safe choices but rejected by this one. I guess IDE is a lit bit different from other masters program. Interest in dev, higher GPA and internship at somewhere like UN maybe prefered.

Economics, University Of Wisconsin-Madison Hello: Thank you for your interest in the Economics Doctoral Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Graduate Admissions and Aid Committee reviewed your application and has decided not to admit you to our PhD program. The applicant pool was large and very strong. We received over 550 applications, and admitted about 110, aiming for a class of 25. The vast majority of the applicants have excellent credentials, and it is very difficult to rank them, but we must do so. We recognize that we make many mistakes in this process, rejecting many people who will turn out to be fine economists.
