Data Science, ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute Of Technology Chinese applicant with a (still ongoing) Chinese bachelor's in computer science. GRE not required & not submitted. 1-year-long research experience at an EPF Lausanne lab. 1 first-author conference pub & several non-first-author pubs. Probably decent LoRs. eApply status: decided - ESOP requested.

Computer Science, University Of California, Berkeley 7+ years of industry experience in Data analysis and science in a fortune 500 company. 3 pubications but not in high impact journals. Won the research competition for my thesis at reputable US university. Grad GPA: 3.6. Strong LORs from thesis advisors, former manager, and the current employer. Strong SOP The only negatives: no relevant research background, and undergrad GPA = 3.0. I expected this result, but what hurts is that the school did not even send me an email saying to check my portal for the updated results. Randomly checked the portal and saw the updated status with their generic email for non-admission. It would have been nice to at least send a notification email about the status update after all the hard work and effort the applicants put in to apply.
