  • To the posters below, I have also interviewed with 3 professors (two of them were pretty good, and the last one was not interested too much). But we probably rejected as this is the case in previous years. Also, someone asked if only American students got the accepts. I know 3-4 international people around who also got accepted on Feb 12.

  • To the poster below: I think we're on the same boat. I was also interviewed by three professors (2 went well, 1 with an uninterested interviewer). Emailed admissions; they wouldn't update me on the status of my application. An unnaturally light number of posted acceptances this year. So far, I've lost hope.

  • To the post below: Yes I received an email telling me to check the ApplyWeb and a decision letter was posted there. It's dated Feb 15. Yes, I mentioned 2 POIs in the SoP, hadn't been contacted though.

Stanford UniversitySociology, PhD (F19)Rejected via E-mail on 13 Feb 2019 A16 Feb 2019
  • Only 5 people admitted to Stanford Sociology for 2019 and 3 of them are publicly at odds on this thread. More accurately, one ecstatic admit was abused by another admit as an "arrogant" "prick" engaging in "humblebrag," said second admit then unloading a petulant screed on a third party who chided the behavior before abusing the first admit some more. A third admit comes along and voices a desire NOT to be in a cohort with the second admit. I am honestly relieved not to have been selected, because a department that can't weed out a spitting cat like the second admit is not one that I want to be trained at.

  • Is there any hope for other EE Phd applicants? I had 3 interviews with POIs (2 of them went pretty well, the other one was moderate). Still waiting to hear from them. My track is architecture, IC design.
