  • I had some research experience prior to applying. Namely I worked on three NSF funded projects in undergrad and presented at two conferences, with two more that came after. I used two essays I wrote as a writing and supplemental sample. All that probably made up for my really bad writing GRE score.

  • Received a Clarendon offer today, so I'm assuming the second round for social science is coming out. Will be declining as I have already accepted and signed a contract for a US program, so there's one more scholarship at least going out if you were nominated but didn't receive one in the first round.   • I had received an offer on 15 March and was asked to wait for 2 weeks for funding information. The discussions clearly pointed that the department gives guaranteed funding for 5 years to all admitted students. But I had to wait as they were trying to secure funding. After two months of waiting, I was informed that the funding was declined which essentially means I cannot join the program.
