  • TTPB: I emailed Jacobus. TT(other)PB: I doubt that this would tip them over the edge, so long as the email is not rude or would give them any reason to change their minds. Stony Brook responded within 15 minutes– I doubt that my status was decided in that time.

  • I don't know if this sounds crazy, but is it possible that enquiring about your status could hasten AdComms into making a decision (generally a rejection)? This has happened to me twice already and to a lot of people over here. It's more likely that they already made the decision to reject you but could it be that asking about it was enough to tip them over the edge even if they were still thinking about, at the least, waitlisting you before?
