English And Comparative Literature, UNC Chapel Hill Received an email that notified me to check the portal. As far as rejections go, this was one of the nicer ones. Felt almost as if they regretted the small number of spots they can fill.

English, Concordia University Emailed first by department coordinator about lack of funding/being unable to fully find me as the reason for the rejection. Oh well, only inspiration to start applying for grants and fellowships (external funding) and try again next year!

English, New York University Ignore the interview tag, just had to put down something to post. Has anyone else heard back from NYU? What did you hear? Did they just ghost everyone who was waitlisted or rejected? Have heard nothing from them and have seen posts only for acceptances and interviews, no waitlists or rejections.

English, University Of Florida I didn't apply here this fall. I applied last fall (2023). I am waiting on other decisions, so imagine my surprise to be rejected from a school I did not apply to for Fall 2024. Double-checked to be safe. Thanks UFL. The icing was "we received over 100 applications...we congratulate you on our work...we have carefully considered all applications..."

English, Brandeis University Rejected from the waitlist. In the waitlist email, they said I was “very high on the waitlist,†but that they were “waiting for the 2024-2025†budget announcement. Alas, they weren’t able to admit more than the 2 students who accepted. 1a/1w/1i/4r/2p

English And Comparative Literature, UNC Chapel Hill Ignore rejection since it isn't official. I just want to comment on how unprofessional UNC is for not notifying applicants of their rejection when acceptances/waitlists went out over a month ago. Applying to graduate school is a long and arduous process; the least a program can do is be timely with their rejection notifications and not ghost applicants.
