Economics, University Of Wisconsin-Madison Hello: Thank you for your interest in the Economics Doctoral Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Graduate Admissions and Aid Committee reviewed your application and has decided not to admit you to our PhD program. The applicant pool was large and very strong. We received over 550 applications, and admitted about 110, aiming for a class of 25. The vast majority of the applicants have excellent credentials, and it is very difficult to rank them, but we must do so. We recognize that we make many mistakes in this process, rejecting many people who will turn out to be fine economists. When you applied, you indicated that you did not want to be considered for our Economics Master’s-Graduate Foundations program. If you've changed your mind about that for some reason, please contact our graduate staff at gradpro@ssc.wisc.edu, as soon as possible. In any case, I hope that things will turn out well for you. Economics, University Of Wisconsin-Madison Email with rejection before portal was updated. Email said they received over 550 applications and admitted 110 for a class of 25. They said their applicant pool was very strong. It seems to be a boilerplate email.
