  • Houston vs UCR . Can you help me choose between the two? Research area wise I am interested in macroeconomics and growth, particularly theoretical Macroeconomics. Other inputs will be useful as I am an International candidate.

  • Just declined UPenn, Minnesota, UCSD, Maryland, and Hopkins. Best of luck to all on the waitlist! :)

  • To all the undecided: I'd never asked to decline offers before since I understand that it is a privilege that was well earned and deserved. But as the end of the season is near, and my only option to go to gradschool is to get off a waitlist is that I'm writing you to please, please make up your mind or at least release the least exciting offers, so others like me can get a chance to get into a program. In my case I'm on University of PITTSBURGH waitlist, so any of you that know that are not going there, please please decline, so I can have a chance. Many, many thanks!

  • Is it only my impression or waiting lists are moving pretty slowly, more than previous years? What can we expect in the following days?

  • No connection, no admission, hehe.

  • Reminder now that open houses are coming to an end: please reject all offers that you are no longer considering. Of my 6 offers, I have rejected the 4 that are strictly dominated. Those of us on waitlists would like to be able to make a decision so that our other offers can be passed down to others on waitlists. We only have a couple weeks left until April 15th.

  • To the italian guy below, I think your best option is CEMFI (look at the master and phd placement). Aditionally, given your research interest I think is even clearer that is your best option (CEMFI is particularly good at microeconometrics)

  • Hello mate! I had applied to only top 15 schools in the U.S. Thank you very much for the tips. I am a fresh graduate and also I did not have any work experience. I shall look for good options in my home country now.

  • To those saying they're rejected everywhere - what was your strategy for applying? All top 10-15 or something? You should try applying more broadly than that next time, because you could probably get something in the 20-50 range, assuming you have the math, GRE, etc.

  • Waiting for decisions from NYU, Boston University, and Cornell. Do you guys think they sent out all the offers and waitlists?
AllEconomics, PhD (F16)Other via Other on 15 Mar 2016 A15 Mar 2016
  • In response to All below: Many people are waiting on waitlist decisions. I'd decline a lot of good offers if Penn took me off the funding waitlist, but I have to hold onto them/visit etc. because Penn might not give me funding. Unfortunately, true for a lot of people.

  • I'm with you guys. Still waiting for Cornell, Brown, Duke, NYU. I heard that Duke uses implicit wait list, but for others we should assume implicit rejections.

  • Guys and gals, this is my second time through the application cycle and I'm yet to receive any funded offers. I'm on some waitlists, but if I don't get in, I'm planning on reaplying for a third time. I'll do (another) Masters or something, and retry. Don't lose hope and most importantly, don't quit. If this is what you want, please don't quit. Endure what you have to endure. See you all on the other side. Good luck.
