Economics, Stanford University Ah well - by the way, to the Yale admits, I went to undergrad there and would definitely NOT recommend the Econ PhD program! All the grad students complain about TAing, advising and location.

Electrical, Stanford University It is disappointing to get a reject from Stanford this year. I would really like to know what is the admission criteria. All my recos were really strong along with 5 publications in known conferences. My MS advisor from top canadian univ had mentioned me to be in the top 1%. Does submitting the application last day make a difference. How much importance is undergrad GPA. That was perhaps a weak point in my application. But, after doing a MS with good GPA, who should care about undergrad GPA. though, i should admit that i did bad in a couple of courses. i dint know that course grades matter so much than projects.. I would like to know what ppl think about the selection criteria in their opinion. Michigan here I come.

History, University Of Minnesota (UMN) "We have carefully considered all of your application materials, and unfortunately your admission has not been approved." Not so much a shock, considering that I also received a letter via post and an e-mail rejection. I suppose this is the Holy Trinity of Grad School Rejections: post, e-mail, and web site. What's next? A text message?

SEAS, Harvard University To the All GSAS person below: The SEAS coordinator told me over the phone about two weeks ago that GSAS processes and mails out postal notification on a rolling basis. Various departments submit decisions to them and the forward it on to the applicant. A single department can also submit decisions in more than one batch, resulting in gaps between notification dates for people in the same department. For SEAS, for example, the person I spoke with said that decisions are being saved up in order to mail them all out at one time, sometime in early March.

Political Science, University Of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC) Since I know there are several on the board like myself that are awaiting decisions on this I thought I'd share my findings. After speaking with their admissions director today I learned the following: They offered 6 spots (about a month ago). Naturally, those people have all been notified. They're still making decisions on the potential of offering others (if the funding is available or if one of the admitted students elects not to enroll) so it does not mean you're out of the running - but regardless of the decision, they generically quoted me that it would be "a few more weeks before I can expect to receive any notification." I hope this helps. I know it's frustrating. One other thing - they said that they notified the first group via Email
