I called them just to make sure and the lady told me I was kinda the last one in. Better that than not getting in at all, right? :-) Good luck guys!

IR/PS, University Of California, San Diego (UCSD) They lost and later found all of my application materials only to lose and find them all again. Then, they waited until early May to accept me? UCSD is a disorganized mess....I'm going to Maxwell with financial consideration...

Economics, New York University (NYU) NYU showed me no respect too. I don't even receive their decision today. Even it is a ma program, results should have been available. Hate it. I didn't expect to be admitted at the first place but at least NYU should send a letter of rejection. After all, I didn't pay the application fee for NO NEWS AT ALL!!! BS...

Computer Science, Georgia Institute Of Technology I wonder what the current pecking order is? I am still "no decision", do I still have a chance at an offer or am I behind all of those on the "waiting list"? I have full funding with my second choice so the suspense is not that painful.

Quan Methods In Social Sci, Columbia University To the responder to the original poster for Quan Methods in Soc Sci. I think you have your head in the clouds. I agree with the original poster- background does matter. I was not putting him down at all. I have no top 100 in my background either. Many of the univesities esp. ivy leagues have cut offs for GRE scores and GPAs to be even in the running. In general, minority students, poor and middle class whites and international students are relatively disadvantaged both by GREs and by their schools of origen that are typically not in the top tier of U.S. News rankings. Its a crap shoot with weighted dice. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Quan Methods In Social Sci, Columbia University To the poster below: Do not belittle him because of his undergrad experiences. All of us do not have the money, family background or the chance to attend the top high schools and Ivy League institutions for undergrad. I applaud him for pushing on. Ivy League or not the graduate admission process is not a level playing field. I did not attend the best, not even ranked in the top 100 program not to mention all black university but I got into many top schools. Do not lose faith and keep sight of your goals. Graduate school admission is a crap shoot. Your background does not matter, you can do what you set out to do; just sometimes the road is a little rougher. Keep pushing on. Keep putting yourself through school, a lot of us have to do just that and once you make it, you will appreciate it much more. Just remember to keep the faith :-)
