Interview request from POI. Undergrad in CS from a decent university.

Interviewed by one POI listed in my application

Tier 1: Non-IIT; GPA: 7.5; Undergrad in Non-CS branch MCS; 3 years of work experience;

Canadian. Previously worked with POI and received unofficial acceptance, was told I would get a letter in a few weeks.

Reached out by the POI mentioned in my SOP. Talked with her last year and was invited to her lab meeting. Background: "Interesting" undergraduate studies (I guess haha), no publication, a few research experiences in multiple areas, lots of work experience.

Email. Standard. They asked for only 1 LoR, transcript (Bachelor's in CS, GPA: 3.05/4, top Indian uni), resume and TOEFL. 3 years work ex as Data Scientist at startup. I had 333/340 on GRE and 2 other strong recos, along with a decent SoP - they never came into play.

Invited for Quick chat with POI, spoke about interesting research projects, my background, and any questions I had about his lab. No GRE, some research experience in Machine Learning, few undergrad internships. One of my top choices!
