Washington University In St. Louis (WashU/WUSTL) | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 2 Feb 2021 | O | 2 Feb 2021 | - Has anyone received any news about admission?
University Of Washington | Computer Science, Masters (F21) | Other via Other on 29 Jan 2021 | | 29 Jan 2021 | - Anyone who applied for HCI got interviewed? I never heard back since submitting my application.

University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 30 Jan 2021 | O | 29 Jan 2021
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 28 Jan 2021 | A | 28 Jan 2021
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 26 Jan 2021 | A | 28 Jan 2021 | - Interviewed with first POI mentioned in SOP on 01/27. They said decisions from the department should be out in the next couple/few weeks.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 25 Jan 2021 | | 25 Jan 2021 | - TTPB: Piling on, when you feel ready, remember to email the POI back and thank them for their time. Even if you're not working directly in their lab, chances are, you'll cross paths again in the field. You could still collaborate in the future. TLDR: try not to burn bridges.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 25 Jan 2021 | O | 25 Jan 2021 | - TTPBs: I'm a student applying so I maybe wrong but what I heard is that the Committee cuts down most of the applications before they send them to faculties(specially for big programs like UW CS). If that is correct then at least your application went through that threshold, which means you have a decent chance for other schools. But sorry if this is fake news :/
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 25 Jan 2021 | O | 25 Jan 2021 | - TTPB: I'm sorry to hear about rejections :( (I really hope this doesn't come across as condescending - for the record, I am a hopeful applicant to other programs)
I think the important thing to remember is, these things essentially boil down to a coinflip. You clearly have a competitive profile, if you managed to get to the interview round. No matter where you end up, things will work out. As some of the leading researchers say in the field (and I know it sounds trite), a good academic career starts with rejections.
And yes, I've heard that faculty can play important roles as to whether an applicant is accepted or not. Thus the coinflip.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 25 Jan 2021 | O | 25 Jan 2021 | - TTPB: every school, including UW, is faculty based. "Committee based" just means that the committee will ratify the recommendations by individual faculty.
No school - at least no "good" school - will admit anyone to a PHd program with at least one faculty member's explicit willingness to be that person's supervisor.

University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via POST on 25 Jan 2021 | | 25 Jan 2021
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Rejected via E-mail on 25 Jan 2021 | A | 25 Jan 2021 | - Mail from POI stating I have not been selected. TTPB, what subfield of CS did you apply in?
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Rejected via E-mail on 25 Jan 2021 | | 25 Jan 2021 | - Email from POI saying they are not moving forward my application because he thought I’m not a good fit in his lab. Is UW a strong faculty-based admission instead of committee-based?
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 19 Jan 2021 Undergrad GPA: 4.00 GRE General (V/Q/W): 0/0/0.00 GRE Subject: n/a ♦ | A | 22 Jan 2021 | -

University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 20 Jan 2021 Undergrad GPA: 4.00 GRE General (V/Q/W): 167/164/5.00 GRE Subject: n/a ♦ | A | 21 Jan 2021 | - Contacted by POI. Area: NLP
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via POST on 21 Jan 2021 | O | 21 Jan 2021 | - To the poster who said there are a million applicants and even bill gates got rejected. Damn you a BOSS. I mean you are 1 in a million. :)
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Interview via E-mail on 20 Jan 2021 | U | 21 Jan 2021
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 21 Jan 2021 | O | 21 Jan 2021 | - I am not sure who is true. There are so many admits reported making me believe that results are out. On the other hand, a senior phd student has contradicted it. Anyone who heard back from POI?
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 21 Jan 2021 | | 21 Jan 2021 | - In the last two years, UW seems to have sent the acceptances in February (5 Feb 2020, 1 Feb 2019). This year, there is Covid (so, adcom meetings are remote) and quite probably more applications than last year. But people are claiming they were accepted on 19 Jan. They are obviously trolls.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 21 Jan 2021 | A | 21 Jan 2021 | - It seems that a lot of applicants claim they are admitted to University of Washington, which makes me really confused. I am a senior Ph.D. student at UW. My advisor is going to interview a few applicant next week, so I suppose the final decision hasn't been made by our department. Just wonder how those applicants received their offer from UW.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 21 Jan 2021 | O | 21 Jan 2021 | - In response to the latest poster: I never really checked my portal after submitting my application. Since I had applied before to UW, I knew the decision would come from an email. I didn't get an email this time though... I just checked after reading the posts below. The portal says "congratulations" and then an option to accept the admission.
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Other via Other on 21 Jan 2021 | | 21 Jan 2021 | - To the last poster: So, when you first checked after the acceptance posts, was your portal still showing "Submitted" and then after some time it changed to accepted?
University Of Washington | Computer Science, PhD (F21) | Accepted via Website on 19 Jan 2021 Undergrad GPA: 3.87 GRE General (V/Q/W): 165/168/5.50 GRE Subject: n/a ♦ | A | 21 Jan 2021 | - I can confirm with previous posters. I never got an interview and I frantically checked on the portal after looking at the several posts below. Area: Graphics/CV
