Computer Science, University Of California, Los Angeles Got an email informing me that a decision made on my UCLA portal. I've received a couple acceptances, so something about the tone of the email was different and I could see the rejection coming before I saw it officially on the portal. The email also came at 11:08pm (PT), I feel like people don't send out good news at that time. Disappointed, was a dream school. Still waiting to hear from UC Berkeley.

Computer Science, University Of California, San Diego Tier-2 uni in india, GPA :9.68/10, Top 1 in branch. 2.5+ years of exp as DS at a Top db firm. 4, 1st author conference and elsevier pubs, 1 under review in area of research. several research internhsips (industry) in RL & robotics. Don't really know what just happend! With the increased flux to RL & robotics (being my primary research area) I think I was too ambitious :( Congratulations all those who got in , you are amazing ! :D 2R/5, other being berkeley. waiting on 4,

Computer Science, University Of California, Berkeley IR2 from mid tier IIT. 2 research internships (universities), one of them international. 1 conference paper (A) and 2 journals under submission. Best bachelors Thesis, ACM ICPC Regionals, SIH win. 1.5y work exp ~FAANG. Good research match for Systems and Networking. Definitely don't apply to terminal masters (MS only) - the meagre ~5 students they take in for this program are from UCB/Stanford/MIT undergrads, 0 from India. MS/PhD chances are also slim but there is at least a chance since they take ~20 in total.

Public Policy, University Of California, Berkeley GRE optional. 3 strong LORs at least 2 of which were ~3 pages long. Strong Statement of Purpose and Personal History. Strong volunteer experience in the non-profit sector. No publications; straight out of undergrad. I think what made me stand out as a candidate was my consistency in both work and extracurricular environments -- all of them have consistently lined up with my personal values which provided good substance for my SOP and PH (my focus is educational policy). I also have a strong quantitative background doing a double major in Data Science and Political Science. I received $15k each for Y1 and Y2 and only applied to UC Berkeley.

Computer Science, University Of California, Berkeley Top of class, 1 publication, 1 full year internship at FAANG. To be honest I wasn't prepared for the rejection, got my hopes up too much :( Best of luck to everyone else! I will take a long break and travel in the coming year :)

Computer Science, University Of California, Berkeley Had two research experiences, ~ 1 year for each. One paper is under review, but didn't mention it. Had several personal projects on GitHub. No intern.
