First acceptance!! Undergrad from top IIT (India), 9+ GPA, 2 papers at moderate venues (first author, 1 under review), 2 DS internships (incl. at MNC), GRE 335 (170Q), good relation with LoR writers. Having good extracurriculars and being able to talk about my industrial internship experience helped a lot in the interview.

had an interview with this POI during thanksgiving break. Invited for TEPAIC. Not sure what this means

Contacted by POI mentioned on SOP.

Talked with Professor, for about 50 minutes. More casual than an interview.

Interviewed with the Professor mentioned in my application in the machine learning theory field.

Background: Good GPA/ Work exp/ Few papers Int Exp: 60 minutes, was a bit technical (my work and very basic ML stuff).

Had a short casual interview with POI. Good GPA + Few Papers + Work exp

Is there any international student who didn't get a result yet? I didn't get any result even a waitlist..

The reason why Columbia is holding out so late is because they're seeing just how many of their international admitees are actually able to come to campus. I was accepted in March and they send me constant emails on updating my visa status, etc. They're just playing it as safe as possible so they don't miss any opportunities.

oh I see. How many of students will get accepted at this point? (regarding international students)

TTPB: I don't know how many more. Im not on the committee or anything, this is all just based on my observations. In general, Columbia seems very apprehensive rejecting people before they need to.

TTPB: but if they give out results in july how can someone manage VISA and logistics? Its no point rolling out decisions in July I feel

Wtf Columbia. Is this the time to add people to waitlists??? U should get ur waitlisted decisions by now. ( Got a mail saying status : Waitlisted )

After over 4 months of waiting, finally was told today that I was put on the waitlist. Really feels like they could have told me that a lot sooner. At this point I've already paid my deposit and registered for classes elsewhere.
