Application decisions are still being made as applications are being reviewed. Once a decision regarding your application is rendered, you will be notified promptly. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Columbia University (Fu Foundation)Computer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 13 Jun 2020 O13 Jun 2020
  • All this waiting is making me extremely anxious. I mean they should realize that making applicants wait for sooooo long without any update is seriously agonizing. I bet every other university had already released admission results or at least still keep in contact with their applicants.... This is just terrible!

  • TTPB: You can still apply for the Spring 2021 application cycle if you did not get into the Fall 2020 cohort. It only makes sense if you have made significant changes to your application.

  • Does anyone know if you do not get into the Fall cohort, whether you could apply for Spring 2021 in October?
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 8 Jun 2020 O8 Jun 2020
  • Everyone in the dept. is overwhelmed with the planning for the upcoming academic year. Maybe that is why they haven't responded back. They can't tell you anything meaningful because the school hasn't decided anything yet. At best, they can give you something vague like "all results will be sent by the next few weeks." If that is what you want to hear, you know it already; they will send the results eventually. Forget about admissions for a moment; there is a lot to settle before the Fall semester starts to ensure smooth functioning of the grad and undergrad programs. I guess if you really want to join Columbia, you can wait a little longer. They will inform you well before the fall semester starts. All the best!

  • Got an email to check portal. Waiting for financial offer. 3 glowing LORs, 2 research projects.
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 8 Jun 2020 8 Jun 2020
  • TTPB: I completely agree. I have sent emails to the ms admissions email address with no response. While it is expected for decisions to take longer, the lack of transparency with the longer timeline is unwarranted.
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via POST on 8 Jun 2020 8 Jun 2020
  • Decisions take a long time due to Covid-19 is perfectly understandable. However, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to provide no update and ignore our inquiry emails. If the decision takes longer than usual given the current situation, just tell us so! I am sure people would understand. All they need to do is to say something. The way they ignored us shows no respect and compassion for people who are also going through this difficult time.
University Of British ColumbiaPhD Law, PhD (F20)Accepted via E-mail on 16 Apr 2020 I8 Jun 2020
  • Got accepted, but no clue how things are going to work in September!
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 8 Jun 2020 A7 Jun 2020
  • Applied in October 2019, and my application is still in pending status. Engineering undergrad with a 4.0 gpa from the top university in Florida, 2 internships, and 2 years of work experience in the engineering field. Got into two other Ivy Leagues, but Columbia is my top pick. I think this is ridiculous. Columbia is not respecting their applicants by not giving them a timeline or an update on when they should be expecting to hear back.

  • COVID-19 is a developing situation and things change rapidly. There are a lot of things at play that influences when the admission decisions go out. The application review process must have completed a long time ago (No need to change your application now). There is a chance that some more students will be admitted in the coming weeks. But like I had said earlier, everyone needs to wait till the school makes a decision. People who have decided to choose other schools should celebrate and move on. All the best!
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 7 Jun 2020 I7 Jun 2020
  • Completely agree. This is utterly hideous behavior from such a reputed university. Although I have decided to accept admit from another university, I deserve a decision(doesn't matter what). It's completely disrespectful to students to have to wait for more than 5 months for a decision. Covid-19 is no more an excuse as every other university has finished sending out the decisions and are already planning their Fall 2020 semester amidst the chaos. It looks like all that Columbia cared about is 85$ application fees. Byproduct of capitalism.
Columbia UniversityComputer Science, Masters (F20)Other via Other on 7 Jun 2020 O6 Jun 2020
  • I agree with the post below. I think it's completely disrespectful to tell applicants that they hope to have some information by the following week then go completely silent for the next 3 weeks. Regardless of the COVID situation, they should give us at least an update on how our applications are being reviewed...Anything?! What annoys me the most is actually the fact that I can still update my application, like really?!
Columbia University (Fu Foundation School Of Engineering)Computer Science, Masters (F19)Other via Other on 6 Jun 2020 U5 Jun 2020
  • Just quit waiting. The school is not respecting applicants. No longer worth going

  • TTPB: I would...I have been waiting for so long, checking this post daily, and still would, I'm a masochist...
