  • TPB: Thank you for the information and congrats for the fantastic admissions. Would you mind sharing your field of interest and which program you are going to attend? Thanks in advance.

  • I just declined the offers from them (To be precise, I withdrew myself from the waiting list for Harvard). Good luck!

  • I contacted the admin person and was told it's unlikely any offers will go out anytime before the April 15th week. They received only very few responses (rejections or acceptances of offers), even fewer than in previous years. Given that most of the people are cross-admits, I imagine it is the same across the top 10.

  • Has anyone on the waiting list of these schools been called? Or is it still too soon to hear form them? Thanks in advance.

  • Out of the universities you mention I think the last visit day is MIT, ending on April 1st. So, there will be potentially more movement after that, which should trickle down to all top 20 universities (and maybe even beyond). Be patient and don't give up hope!

  • I think that movements in these universities' waiting list can trigger a lot of movement in top 20 universities. I guess that after the open houses, we should expect more movements in those universities. Anyone knows when these universities' open houses are (were)?

  • Received an email to check the portal. Pleasantly surprised. 2 years of research experiences -- 1 year of fieldwork, 1 year at the World Bank. Strong letters, including a Yale econ alum. Average GPA.

  • Strong LORs. One from professor very famous in development, high grades in Econometrics and development classes. Come from a prestigious university in U.S, and 5 months research internship in economic development. However, no full-time experience. I think COVID has sparked a very high application in grad school apps this year.

  • Hi everybody. One important point is that there is a chain when someone rejects an offer. Say that person A is admitted both at MIT and Harvard. When A rejects Harvard offer, person B who is on the waiting list of Harvard is picked up. As B is now accepted in Harvard, he rejects his Stanford offer. This chain can potentially continue to very low ranking universities. Therefore, it is genuinely helpful if those who are admitted at high ranking universities decline their less preferred offers. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone in the rest of the admissions process.
