  • If you haven't yet been rejected by one/more of these schools as I have, keep up your hope :) Good luck!
Yale UniversityEconomics, PhD (F21)Rejected via Postal Service on 5 Feb 2021 I23 Feb 2021
  • Dejected. Despite being a Gold Medalist in MA Economics and despite having 7 years of economic research experience in a Central Bank, got rejected. 7r/oa. I am not able to understand what they actually need. Thank you very much for applying to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale University. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission. As you know, the very high number of extraordinary candidates far exceeds the number of places we have in each program, and we are not able to admit many excellent candidates. We wish you every success in all your future endeavors.

  • Anyone planning on rejecting Yale offers?
Princeton University, Yale UniversityEconomics, PhD (F21)Accepted via Other on 19 Feb 2021 O19 Feb 2021
  • I got accepted into both programs and asked them how many students they admitted. Princeton accepted exactly 50 students, and Yale accepted slightly more than 50. That is a 33% drop from roughly 75 admits in the previous year. There could be a slight decrease in cohort size, but not much, so that means there might be a slightly higher probability of being accepted off the waitlist. However, given the special situation of this year (especially Harvard only admitting 1/4 of class size), I suspect the yield rate for both schools would be higher. Hope that helps!

  • Have anyone heard back from Hopkins?
UC Davis, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Harvard, UCLA, WisconsinEconomics, PhD (F21)Other via POST on 19 Feb 2021 O19 Feb 2021
  • TPB: I think UCD, Harvard and Wisconsin are IRs, less sure about the others. UCLA and Berkeley usually only send out decisions in late February or early March, I suspect the previous posts from these schools might have been trolls. Quite possibly the same with Columbia
