  • Strong LORs. One from professor very famous in development, high grades in Econometrics and development classes. Come from a prestigious university in U.S, and 5 months research internship in economic development. However, no full-time experience. I think COVID has sparked a very high application in grad school apps this year.

  • I did not meet the prerequisites of having taken intermediate micro, intermediate macro, and an econometrics course. I did have math up to Calc 3 and Linear Algebra and pretty good GRE scores. Definitely talk to admissions if you feel like you wouldn't be eligible for the program. Most of the time these prerequisites aren't as strict as they seem.

  • Hi everybody. One important point is that there is a chain when someone rejects an offer. Say that person A is admitted both at MIT and Harvard. When A rejects Harvard offer, person B who is on the waiting list of Harvard is picked up. As B is now accepted in Harvard, he rejects his Stanford offer. This chain can potentially continue to very low ranking universities. Therefore, it is genuinely helpful if those who are admitted at high ranking universities decline their less preferred offers. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone in the rest of the admissions process.

  • I had the interview two weeks ago and wrote a letter to ask about it yesterday. Our professor told me I was good but they were going to admit only 7 students this year. 7 students out of over 450 applicants. Fine. I shouldn't have hope for it.
