  • Just received news that I will not be coming off the waitlist...AGAIN. Kind of stings. This is back to back years for me haha. "Big gulps huh, alright, see ya later."
UCLACinema And Media Studies, PhD (F18)Wait listed via Other on 5 Apr 2018 I5 Apr 2018
  • Dear all: Thanks for all the updates from both masters/phd students. I have been waitlisted 5 times in the past two years for PhD film/cinema/media studies programs so this is what I personally know. No news is great news. Same thing happened to me at Cal-Berk last year (no accepted/rejected) so I called and was told about the waitlist. For those of us on the PhD waitlist, the majority of the programs wait until April 15 to finalize who has accepted or declined, after that, each program (so I've been informed by Cal, Texas, USC) will reevaluate the waitlisted applicants and "re-rank" them according to fit and POI availability. As I mentioned before, I feel like I'm a pro-waitlister at this point in my academic career. Best of luck to everyone. Thanks for all the comments and useful info.

  • Called the admissions office and she said offers are still being made. Not sure what UCLA's problem is with their PhD program, but I had to finally accept my offer elsewhere on April 15. We aren't masters students, get with it UCLA.
