Once thought I have a pretty good chance in this school. I was too naive...

Do they use the same rejection letter as last year.

The applicant pool was again large and extremely strong this year. We received nearly 530 applications, and the vast majority of the applicants have excellent credentials. It is very difficult to rank the applicants, but we must do so. We recognize that we make many mistakes in this process, rejecting many people who will turn out to be fine economists. We can only hope that the mistakes we make will be corrected in the end by market competition. Indeed we know of at least two cases where this is exactly what happened: two current faculty members were rejected when they applied to our program a few years ago, and subsequently hired here as assistant professors.

Finally, I accepted the offer. I love bargaining:)

I think they are still rolling out applications. I found out I got a fellowship today that requires admission to the econ department first. Emailed and asked the department about my admissions status, they said I would be admitted but that rolling out admissions is taking a while. I wouldn't worry just yet

does the acceptence email from john kennan mean we have to teach in the first year or what does it mean? says 'Briefly, the Teaching Assistantship pays a stipend of $19,000 for the first two years (conditional on satisfactory progress) plus a tuition waiver and a health benefit package (which includes spouse and children). ' so what does this mean?
