Called the department.

No funding for the first year...

Full funding. The grad secretary sent me an email because she knew I needed to know as soon as possible.

To the Umich posters below, I emailed the department and get the exact same response, but I don't think they will make more offers based on previous years. I enourage more people to email them, so that they can at least make a quicker decision and end our agony.

Are there people waitlisted by UMich? Still I can see very few posts here.

Did anyone got rejected from this program ? Is not hearing a rejection ?

I saw only 2 waitlisted candidates here, so I think they take into account experience of the past years when almost all students accepted an offer. Even if in extreme cases someone declines, those waitlisted will receive an offer first. I think no news from them now means implicit rejection.

What are they in Michigan still deciding upon? Are they working on a nicely written rejection letter? It is almost the deadline, and no response!

3rd cycle with complete rejections. I'm fucked up with all US schools. 3 years of yearning gives me nothing but despair.

I knew I was rejected, but surprised given a LoR from a Michigan's alumnus! I wonder if I didn't ask today about my application status on mail, would they notify any of those rejected at all? They are so slow this season! A rejection letter by the way is not that encouraging and not to the soul. To draw a bottom line, I think I didn't do my best this time as I missed some crucial things when preparing for PhD. Notwithstanding, I leave for UT Austin! Future applicants, make your preparations adequately and in advance!

I am in waiting list on Michigan, but the email didn't say how many people are in the same situation or how likely is to be accepted

It seems that there are so many people on the waitlist and most of us will go if we ever get accepted. Let us see who is the lucky one.

Email response from grad director about wait list "It's very unlikely we'll be admitting students from our waitlist. We encourage you to entertain other offers at this time."
