Summer Term Accept

CS undergrad from big state research university. Moderate research experience, 1 research internship. No publications.

Accepted into the Summer MS Early Start Program which starts from July 5. This summer, the Viterbi School of Engineering will host a Summer M.S. Early Start program for a select group of high-achieving Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students. As part of the Early Start program you will have an opportunity to join USC early and start taking classes beginning on July 5, 2016. Participants recommended for admission to Summer Early Start Program will enroll in one course required for the MS degree.

Is it true that USC is sending out admits in the order of the pointers (CG)? Apparently, 9 pointers have got their admits already and people with pointer belonging to the range of 8.8-8.9 are receiving them now. I know its a stupid thing to follow, but just curious and scared since my pointer is in early 8s :P

To the USC poster below worried about GPA based admits - Yep it looks true that they are taking in based on GPA's. My cg is 8.98, if what you say is true then I might get good news in a few days.

It s true that USC is following CG to admit for Masters. It is really a stupid thing.One of my friend joined last Fall is regretting for selecting USC.Large sized classes ,many international students from unrecigonized universities were admitted due to high CGPA without good knowledge. He says batch standards are going down due this policy

By the submitter of the 'GPA based poster': Thanks for your responses! Yes I have heard this from many others that the quality of education provided at USC is not worth the money we pay. Even I would prefer a lower ranked college like NCSU or Stony.

My GPA is 9+ but I haven't heard from USC. I am really scared. Will they send out more admits?

Been admitted to EE MS at USC. BS from EE at Bilkent University. This was safety. No hard feelings..

To the USC poster below, it is just a speculation that admits are being sent out based on the pointers. You still stand a chance, so don't worry just because of this speculated trend.

I've been accepted for the Summer 16 program in MSCS - Data Science, but I'm not sure if my official undergraduate documents will be ready by early June. I can leave early but its better for me to have all documents ready before I do so. Does the university offer Summer 16 only or can I ask them for postponing my admission to Fall 16? PLS HELP.
