Graduate School Admission Results

To the anon who posted about the rude email from OSU, you inspired me to pull out a rejection letter I received from them years and YEARS ago. It was by far the rudest rejection letter I've received in my life (and, for some context, I was rejected from 16 programs across 2 cycles and from countless jobs while on the market), so I saved it. Maybe I should frame it? "This program regularly receives more applications than the program can accommodate, and, unfortunately, the committee has judged that your application is not competitive with others in the current pool. If you wish to strengthen your qualifications and then apply for admission at a future date, you are invited to contact the Graduate Studies Committee Chairperson in English. That individual also can determine if there are additional items required to complete your application and advise you of pertinent deadlines." I mean ... I guess that's how you have to spin things when you're Ohio State. OSU's knows it's no one's first choice, so if it can punch down it feels better, I suppose. Good riddance.

Second-time applicant, medical schools outside the US, two medical degrees, two master degrees, recent master in science degree in the US with GPA 3.72. 10 gc shadows in two countries, one year clinical rotation, 4 years work experience in clinical laboratories, two years lab technician education and two years infertility patient education, three years medical and biological research experiences. Experienced "abnormal" genetic tests four years ago.

Sent a short email that is definitely a rejection, but points toward the program being full as the reason why: "Your credentials and application for admission to the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Doctor of Philosophy program at The Ohio State University for the autumn 2020 semester have been given careful consideration by the Graduate Studies Committee. We have been informed by the committee that the program is full. However, the faculty believes that your application is competitive and would like to encourage you to reapply for a future term." I think it's just a nice way of saying you're not qualified lol

Saw someone asking about this-- I was accepted into the program on Jan 24 and was nominated for a fellowship by a faculty member I've been in contact with. Campus visit is on Feb 28th
