My status changed to "decision made" on the application website however I did not receive an email or letter indicating what the decision was. After waiting a week I contacted the Graduate Assistant by email requesting clarification. I was informed that I was not successful and would be mailed a formal letter shortly. Congratulations to all of those who were successful!

I contacted the Criminology Grad Administrator, and they replied that the results will be in at end of March 2016. I am hoping for the best, though I think my chances are quite low!

To the poster below - I have heard that there are many students who apply for it, and their acceptance rate is about 30%. There's very few universities who provide a Masters in Criminology, and so competition is tough. I'm also an international applicant, and there's usually a lower quota for us, as opposed to domestic applicants :)

Thanks to the poster below for your response. My application status changed to "Decision Made" but I have received no email or anything through the postal service yet. There is no decision info on my application either. Maybe its in the mail (fingers crossed).

It was a fall back school and got accepted elsewhere way before this rejection came through. For those who did not get in don't fret. There criminology program no longer lives up to its prestige and they are absolutely terrible at communication. Why would you want to go to a school where they can't answer a simple email or answer a ringing phone? For next years applicants- Beware and reconsider where you want to invest for a real, wholesome experience and education.

I sent an inquiry about the status of my application since my status was updated to "Decision Made" a few weeks ago and I hadn't received any information. Received a response a week later with the rejection letter attached."The Centre of Criminology Admissions has reviewed your application to our MA program for admission in Fall 2016. Regrettably, after careful consideration of your file, we have decided that we cannot offer you admission to our program". Undergrad GPA 3.91/4.00, one publication, one conference paper, excellent LORs. Ah well!

In reply to the poster below asking about my rejection. I initially applied to University of Ottawa and Wilfrid Laurier which I both got rejected to as well. My research will be focusing on cybercrimes and unfortunately many university are very very behind in this arena of study so they simply rejected me because they can't find an advisor willing to take me on. Given that, I accepted my offer to UOIT. They're currently the most technically innovative and thus far I've had a great experience with administrative staff. They gave me an extension to get my grades in ( I have to take a summer course to fulfill my undergraduate degree) with no questions asked, and have been available to answer and redirect me to the right person when I've had any questions about getting started. It's a small program (about 10-15 masters students) and many professors have told me that they have produced very successful Ph.D. canditates. I know my response sounds like it's ridden in bias- but this is based on my very real, terrible experience with applying this year.

I e-mailed the graduate administrator saying I needed an answer because I had an offer from another program. She immediately responded with an offer of admission. No funding, though. Already rejected the offer.

To the poster below who was wait-listed, was that a response to an inquiry or was that status update sent without you sending a query?
