Generic rejection

hep-th, 4 publications (JHEP)+1 accepted in JHEP, pGRE 990, 3 strong LORs, decent GPA, and quite a good overlap of previous work and research interests with the research of the profs there. As was said by someone on the forum before, "just fell short of a Nobel Prize".

(IGNORE WAITLIST) Hey guys, I just wanna say, I've been reading about your rejections, and it really doesn't make sense, you would all be amazing students. To some extend, so many great people apply, they can't even choose and the whole thing is quite random. Do not put your happiness into some random chance that you'll get in: we know this is not a smart move. Being an outstanding physicist is just a tiny part of who you are. Focus on the other many many great parts now and soon the sadness will go away.
