Informal acceptance, should get formal in 2 weeks.

Interviewed in early Jan from POI. Received positive feedback and departmental recommendation shortly after. Acceptance notice was sent by the POI yesterday via email, and the official acceptance letter will arrive early next week. Fields are Human-Centered AI and NLP. Accepted with guaranteed 5-year funding with first-year fellowship.

Did an interview with potential advisor.

This is for an MS in CS (for S&E). BA in Statistics from a Top 5 US public school, with all A's in CS courses like ds&a, OS, DB, AI, etc. No published research but a strong undergrad honors thesis in statistical machine learning, and a few decent projects in deep learning and computer vision. About 2 years of experience in startups and Big 4 consulting. Program-tailored SoP, though written in one night so not perfect. 1 LoR from a manager. The program targets engineering or science majors, but seems open to others with relevant experience or coursework in computing.

UCI MCS admit: GPA 9.69 from Indian Tier 3 University, 3 months research internship and project under college Prof, 9 months work ex at MNC bank, final year project with American startup. Have LoRs from research internship prof, Deep Learning prof and technical director of the startup
