Graduate School Admission Results

here goes my profile: Tier-1 university in India GRE 323 TOEFL 112 GPA 8.37/10 1 A* publication 6 Research projects with 2 being with international professors from esteemed universities. I'm not even fucking pissed, just goddamn confused

After checking for the 182nd time and after being on Update Pending for 48 hours, I am 'Denied' admission. Did not expect this - had a better profile than many who got admitted this year, last year and the year before that. Totally heartbroken. Moreover, the way they give out decisions is totally backwards - no email on denial of admission, hung on update pending, quite stressful. I think I am not going to recommend applying to UMass to anyone.

I so hope not, dude. I've been on Update Pending for the last 36 hours, out here, fingers crossed. About to loose my sanity now.

Can anyone who got a reject please share if they received an email stating change in application status? This is the worst fucking admission process ever!!

Depressed. Status was "Update Pending for the last 2 days". Changed to "Denied" today.

Nope. I have applied to MS/Ph.D. as well and it's still under review. I submitted the application on 27th November, Filled the Ph.D. survey form on 24th December. Tier-2 College in India, 9.42 GPA, 3 Pubs in AI area, 1 internship - non-research, 2 years unrelated work experience, Meh LORS, Good SOP(I think). Honestly, this year being so brutal, I am unsure of getting in.

[Ignore waitlisted] Has anyone who applied for MS/PhD heard back yet? We are two days away from the updated deadline of Mar 22 and my status still shows "Application Under Review" :/

UMASS and its fuckall admission process!! they could have just fucking released a google sheet with results and the process would have been much simpler and less stressfull!!

Still under review. I guess that's how rolling admits work. I am MS/Ph.D. applicant though.

Tier 3 University from India with 2 pubs and good GPA, LORs, and GRE scores. Didn't expect a rejection considering some of the other admits I received. Very stressful process though urgh.

Just checked. Under review became update pending. Want to know if this happened for everyone. If that's the case, then can we assume this is a mass reject wave?

Haha, same. It's finally showing as "update pending". I hope that it's not a reject but that looks unlikely. This is certainly one of the worst admission processes of all - why can't they simply release all the admits/rejects at roughly the same time like CMU or other universities.

After checking for the 158th time, status changed from 'Application Under Review' to 'Update Pending', which probably means the department made its decision and forwarded it to the graduate programs office. Did the status change for anybody else? This could mean anything - could be mass reject. I don't know, I think I am going to cry 😭

Rejected twice. Will need to write GRE again and apply next year.
