Graduate School Admission Results

Received an email to check the website, which said "update pending." 24 hours later I got the bad news (the website had changed to "application denied." Good luck to all those who got in!

General question: does a low GPA imply a lower chance of acceptance into schools? As far as I can see, the only admits are those with GPAs in the ballpark of 3.8 and above. Should I even bother if my GPA is lower?

Im here sadly to announce that my closest friend from Turkey has passed away in the earthquake. She was a brilliant girl and received her PhD offer with funding from her dream school at Brown for 23 Fall. RIP for Adriana and I believe that there is a lot more fresh PhD holders from Turkey and Syria who are suffered in this trauma scene. Life is tough and God bless us all.

Ignore the status. Does anyone know whether the department has sent out rejections yet? I wasn't invited to the open house but has not received rejection yet and would like to know if I have any chance of getting admitted.

First no. Had two research projects with conference presentations and publications. Did Stanford summer program w LOR from one Aero/Astro professor. Minority (first-gen, Hispanic, low-income), full-ride UG, three honor societies, placed in engineering competitions, and internship experiences.

Notified via email. No info on TA and funding. Got a fellowship offer.

TTPD: Two Canadian applicants were admitted this year. Not sure how many international students are admitted, but I believe it is usually two.

Five published papers (two first author, and three second author), three first author's publications are in progress. Two conferences experiences and two symposium poster presentations. Interviewed with three professors during the last two weeks. Got 37k stipends a year and 1.5k additional monthly bonus. Need 3 rotations in the first year.
