Graduate School Admission Results

I've been noticing a lot of people being jerked around by Media Lab admissions. The process needs an update and _now_. For instance, I've been on a waitlist for months because a prof decided he couldn't make up his mind in March. The Tech (MIT's student newspaper) is thinking of writing an op ed, but we need your help. Email mlfml@mit.edu if you are willing to contribute. Please make your voice heard.

This program may dazzle people but it is not worth the effort. The profs decide that they are not accepting students after the applicants submit their application. There is no status page to tell you the status of your application, test scores, and transcripts. The admission process takes ages and there is no clear date around which you can expect the results. So, it's a useless and disappointing wait anyhow. And they won't even tell you whether you got in or not. if you've been rejected - they are too lazy to email you. You may or may not receive a letter by postal mail. Clearly they don't do enough given the resources at their disposal

groups: synthetic neurobiology

received rejection today. doesn't feel very nice, this being my second time. groups i applied to had only two slots open, which makes it infinitely harder. for those still waiting to hear from them, you'll be receiving the rejection letter soon through postal service. they have already sent all acceptances via email.

Received it in the post. Apparently, 40 have been accepted out of 700 - farewell, MIT.

To the poster below, can you go to the Media Lab thread on the Computer Science Forum and tell a little about what you know about the wait list re: size and probability of admittance? Decisions, Decisions...

To individual below -- I was told by a professor the Media Lab that historically each group wait lists 1 or 2 applicants.

my friend from the media lab told me everyone that is not on the accepted list is wait-listed...

Anyone has got a notification of reject from MIT?

I contacted there department. They said that the results are being sent out my postal mail from today. Should I guess a reject since am nt yet contacted by e-mail for either accept or waitlist??
