Has anyone got an interview?

NOT WL. TPB: The acceptance email: "We would be grateful for a quick answer. If we do not hear from you by 1st April 2021, we will assume you are not interested in our offer anymore." As many people tend to decline an unfunded offer, I think you still have a chance to be admitted.

Got no email, but there was an acceptance letter on the portal when I checked. However, the letter literally just mentions the acceptance. No word on the funding or next steps. Did posters below also hear nothing from the department and get this letter only?

Because it is my one of my top choice, I asked for feedback when I received a decision email. (yes, they wrote the "regret to inform" language in the email, not even a pdf or something) Then the "feedback" is simply a copy and paste of two-paragraph in the decision email. I would rather you ignore my request than sending something extremely generic and I have already been told like I am an idiot.

TPB: Agreed. Do they charge an expensive application fee when they hire faculty or staff? Think about that. They gave you a decision letter because there is some sort of rule that asked them to do so. If there is no such rule, I don't think they would even bother. That is also why the letter is so short and generic.

(NOT WAITLIST): Haven't heard back from NYU yet. Is it an IR at this point?

[Not a WL] TPB: Agreed. Without a mandatory feedback and ground for acceptance/rejections, this process is just a profit-making exercise. Also, a complete lack of accountability. Transparency is key for efficiency. Something as opaque as the admissions process surely must be leading to a very inefficient selection process. The effect is not only on the candidates, it is also be on research and education as a whole. Wonder how the system could be reformed!

After years of hardwork, and a lots of effort and money put into the applications to get just two statements from graduate schools. Thank you for applying and regret to inform. They don't even specify candidates on what grouds they are being rejected, despite taking large sum of money on the name of application fees. They have no proper feedbacks to improve themselves if it is possible, otherwise to look for better alternatives. I don't think, graduate schools even consider student's time and money invested to submit a application form. I believe that the whole system is a big scam.

(Not waitlist) Anyone else still waiting for a response? Are they just going to ignore all remaining applications? Don't want to email them as a previous poster was handed a rejection after that.
