Graduate School Admission Results

TPB: Just jumping into the convo, but you sound like an asshole. Why not do the introspection, figure out what you'll pick if you don't get Duke, and decline the dominated offers? It's not like you need to wait to figure this out.

No email, just checked the portal. Rejection, no explanation why. I figured as much. My GPA wasn't particularly high and I had some inconsistent grades in some of my major classes (3.4 GPA in economics, 3.2 overall), and no advanced micro/macro classes. This was a reach for me.

(Not WL) TPB: Isn't it a bit hypocritical to ask others to decline offers if you are holding more than one offer? Practice what you preach!

TBP: just curious, why you are holding offers from several Universities while waiting for waitlist decision from Duke? You would probably get off the waitlist if you will decline one or more of the offers you have, letting someone take this spot, and possibly free the spot in Duke for you.

Please, anyone holding onto Duke please decline if you're not going. I'm holding offers from Cornell, Columbia, and a few others I'd like to drop if I got off waitlist at Duke!

[Not WL] TPB: I thought it should be crystal clear that the other poster talked about Mizzou in Columbia, MO (instead of Kansas-City or St. Louis). Bottom line, if you have Mizzou or UC Riverside, I personally would go for UC. Although they are relatively close on their ranking, I sense that UC yields better placement for their graduates and has the plus of a less harsh climate. Nevertheless, mind the funding when choosing where to go--CA is quite expensive.

(NOT WL). TPB Who declined funded offer from these schools, Could you share your cv including number of paper published, TOEFL score and work experience if you have.

(Not WL). To the guy asked for comparison. It is obvious that Columbia is significantly better than others in your choices. For Missouri and UC Riverside, they are in the same ranking. Other factors play important role. For example, cost of living given funding, Missouri is better than UC Riverside, In terms of weather, UC Riverside is better (if you are not interested in snow). Altogether, I hope everyone make these decisions sooner because the admission market will be clear sooner. Thanks

TBP: I'm sorry to hear that. Did you go to the visit day? I got an email with the same language, but still no offer... will probably accept if they give it to me so I'm really hoping. Seems like their admissions are kind of messed up this year.
