Hi everyone! Posted earlier about receiving a "first-tier alternate". I'm not too sure what it means but I perceive it as being waitlisted. For anyone still interested in the program I've heard it's a good idea to email and reiterate your interest in the program for their consideration! :)

I also received the email about being on the top tier alternate list like several others here. I wonder if they did this so they could spend more time making selections? I am very excited and anxious as well. Good luck!

Notification via e-mail that I am on their "first tier of alternates."

(ignore waitlist): I applied to Feminist Studies last year and didn't hear a word until the second half of April. I suspect this may be the case for many UCSD programs, unfortunately. Fingers crossed I'm wrong about that though bc waiting is truly hell :-(

I have not heard from the department yet either. However, I did see last week they placed employment applications for GE positions this coming fall. So, it appears they are hiring GEs in the fall. I do not know if that means they are not going to take PhD students since they only had GE funding for 5 student's or what.

disregard waitlist. y'all i'm loooooosing it😭 does anyone maybe think that this is a ghost program? I feel like it usually takes them about 2 months or so to respond but now I'm just skeptical. May potentially email the graduate program.

To the previous poster: I also applied by December 15th and still haven't had any updates. I hope you've been hanging in there! Thank you everyone for being so helpful and kind! Hoping we all find out soon :)

I read somewhere (but I can't find it now) that notifications will be sent out “in early March,” so I'm hoping by Friday. I haven't seen anything logged so I'm still holding out hope.

Adding to what others said, I haven't heard anything either. I even emailed the department about two weeks ago to ask a question about a fellowship and they never responded back to me.

To the previous poster, I haven't heard or seen anything but last year, rejects came around this time :( Acceptances were all in January/February. Good luck to you!

Same as the other's below, just a "pending" status when I check. I hope we all get in!!

To the other posters still no update for myself as well! On their website they said might hear by the end of their Winter Quarter so I'm hoping we all hear by Mid March! :) Best of luck to all of us!

Not actually waitlisted (option to select "other" wasn't available). My portal still says "pending", even after seeing a few rejections on here. Is anyone else in the same boat?
