Invite to open house via email - soft condensed matter exp. No GRE, 1 REU soft matter exp, 1 summer abroad (DAAD) biophysics exp. No interview but talked to profs on zoom before applying.

Email from POI that they were very disappointed that I wasn't on the final list. Expected because of that department (actually kinda relieved). But I'm super happy that my POI said they would still want to work with me in any capacity (which is the whole reason I applied there). I feel my application fee is worthwhile.
