Graduate School Admission Results

Was put on the wait list on February 18th. Was accepted the same day my status changed from being on the wait list to bring under review by the department.

(Same email as those below.) Subfield: political theory. I'm desperate. I didn't get any acceptances and I'm on just two waitlists (CUNY and another school--philosophy PhD program). This is my fourth time applying for PhDs; so if it would make an acceptee who is on the fence feel like they're helping someone, declining your offer at CUNY might help my poor, tired soul achieve a goal I've had for so, so long. [For future applicants: GPA is grad. Two master's degrees (one in philosophy); 12+ conference presentations; Fulbright student research grantee; $240k in student debt, lol.]

To the last poster, could you please tell your concentration that you were accepted to off the waitlist? Is it theory? IR? comparative? American? Any more info regarding waitlist acceptance would be much appreciated. I am also waitlisted but was told to wait in order to hear back from the department. I was waitlisted back in January

TBP: I see your point, but especially if you are European concluding a 3-year Bachelor, be aware of the enormous difference between 1-year and 2-year Masters: namely, the fact that in 1-year Master you will ask LoRs to proffs. that know since basically 3 months, and cannot evaluate you fully (and then push you accordingly). This does not really apply if you already studied at UCL. In the other case, and especially if you want to apply to a PhD later, be aware of this. Hope this helps. Good luck

Happy about the acceptance, but unsure I will accept. The course becomes very expensive over 2 years, especially when considering living costs. Would have preferred 1 year MSc. I also have offers for UCL MSc and Cambridge MPhil - will likely accept UCL as the department is superior to Cambridge.

Recent Int'l grad from top 10 US LAC. Major in social studies subject w/ substantial quant coursework. Will pass this for Columbia QMSS

Applied in Nov, receiced an id in Dec. Got an unconditional offer. It was my dream school. I gonna accept the offer. Best wishes to you all.

TTPB: Thanks for the update! I've seen things being drawn out for this particular program in previous cycles, but I really don't get why everyone is left in the dark for so long. Clearly, no news at this point means bad news, but it's really frustrating smh.

Received email and then checked the portal saying refused. Carleton indeed deserves someone better than me who will bring them a Noble Prize in Peace.

Haven't heard from this program yet. I've see a few admits sometime ago. Has anyone received a reject ?
