American History (Military), Washington University in St. Louis (WashU/WUSTL) Top 5 MA, 660 V GRE, 5.5 Analytical Writing. Decent fit with small program. BUT wasted my money applying. They could have done little more than open my application before sending out generic rejection. Like I got money to burn on application not taken seriously!

Accounting, Cornell University, The Johnson School I actually had to contact the school--I was never sent any information. When I contacted them, I was told "We do not send out information regarding applications status. The students can review that information on the Embark website." However, the Embark website has no such link and instead says that not all programs update the status online. Nancy Bell, the contact, was not helpful or friendly, saying "I can't tell you where to find that information."

European History, Washington University in St. Louis (WashU/WUSTL) Just submitted results. Must have moved too quickly. I was rejected for European History, not Ameircan Military. Anyway, I understand a rejection in this arbitrary process, but if you are going to charge $60 for an application...at least let me believe you have actually reviewed it. Hold onto it for more than 4 days before sending me the form letter. Feel so dirty and cheap for having submitted this application.

English (Lit/Cultural), University of Texas, Austin (UT Austin) This year we had a very large pool of well-qualified applicants for roughly 25 places. Making decisions in such a hyper- competitive environment is both challenging and chastening, and we are indeed aware that exemplary as well as worthy applicants have been denied admission.
