Graduate School Admission Results

The number of well-qualified applicants for admission to graduate study at Santa Cruz far exceeds the number of places available. Although a substantial majority of these applicants will meet every minimal standard an admissions committee might establish, not all will be admitted. Admission nearly always depends on, for example, compatibility of the applicant's expressed interests with those of faculty in the program, and balance of disciplinary subfields within the program, as well as other factors. Please direct any further inquiry you might have to the Department to which you applied. Although it has not proved possible for us to offer you a place, we sincerely appreciate your interest in the Santa Cruz campus of the University of California. Rejection stating they only admit with funding, and I wasn't chosen. Big bummer.

Had to email head of the department and ask. They said I wasn't receiving funding and they only admit students who are going to receive funding.

Archaeology Subfield - I applied to the Masters Program originally in December and was waitlisted on Feb 6th. The faculty I connected with was looking for a PhD student so I was offered a spot in the PhD program.

No email, just happened to check the portal. Tuition is waived and I'll receive a stipend for the first year. I was told that I was recommended for admission by my advisor in February but just got the official letter.

Ignore Status: Another person had asked but wondering if anyone had heard back UCSC anthropology department yet. They had sent out an email last month saying to except offers starting to coming in late Feb/early March so I'm wondering if anybody has received an offer yet.

IGNORE STATUS!!! Can we just talk about how long NYU is taking? Has anyone heard anything? I am going to follow up in a few days.

IGNORE REJECTION -- Has anyone heard from this program? I'm anticipating a denial, but I'm not even sure how to check my application outside of the general application review.

No email, notification, etc. Not surprised at all tbh.
