Interview went really well, the interviewer said he could see me at the school and gave me high marks. Good work experience, strong academic background from a prestigious, socially conscious liberal arts college. Who knows. Got my dream job in the field a week before being rejected, so HA!

Anyone hear anything yet?

I was interviewed over the phone in December. I got a call from someone from the admissions committee yesterday who said my application was favored and he wanted to talk to me about the program. He said I should receive a decision this week or next.

I had an in-person interview on December 6 with an alum in my area. No word yet.

My interviewer said she doesn't know anything yet. If any news, she'll keep me posted. Has anyone heard something?

Was also "waitlisted" like the person below, though they don't do that. I'm 21, so they wanted me to get more experience for next year and said I then have a strong chance.

I interviewed in person back in December and when I saw people were getting phone calls I knew if by the end of yesterday I didn't I would be getting a rejection letter. This is the email I got. But considering it wasn't even addressed to me I figured it was standard rejection email. And from other people it sounds like everyone that was rejected got this email? If that's the case, I'm very dissapointed. That just wouldn't be right! Your application was strong, and unfortunately we are unable to offer you admission to the Master of Journalism program at UC Berkeley this year. We take pride in our small classes and the hands-on mentoring style of our instructors and faculty, but this means that we have to limit the number of applicants that we can accept each year. In your case, if we could admit just a few dozen more applicants, your application would have been accepted. Unfortunately we do not use waitlists, so this decision is final. However, this means you have a strong chance of admission next year. I'd be happy to talk with you further about your application so I can offer you feedback and encouragement. With another year of reporting experience and writing practice, your application will certainly be even stronger. Following my interview in December, I didn't receive any info from UCB or the department until I was notified via email by a faculty member that I was accepted. I think some international students receive phone calls but I don't know if everyone does.

I have not heard back at all from Berkeley, the coordinator told me that everything should be out by next week. Here's to hoping! Anyone else still waiting?
