Graduate School Admission Results

Not directly accepted into the MA. Instead have been given asked to do a semester in grad diploma and then can transfer to the MA (due to lack of advanced econ courses). Waiting for other decisions, otherwise will accept for sure.

No email received, but I logged onto the portal this morning and saw my decision letter. No funding info.

will turn down since I have dominating offer

I tought I was a great fit I am sure I had amazing Letters of recomendation, but I havent submitted my Mastet Thesis yet so that could have played against me. Another thing that might have hurted me might be that I took the GRE four times and the first three times I scored 155, 152 and 159 in quant (with 163, 165 and 167 verbal respectively) and I uploaded the pdf with all the tests. I scored 110 in Toefl IBT But my biggest hope is that I got rejected because I also applied to the Political Science PhD at Stanford and I made it clear to the PoliSci Department that they were my number one choice. Hopefully I am accepted in PoliSci and since some of the faculty has affiliation at both departments I am going to get my number one choice and that only. I have published and presented in a Peer review journal, and international conference, one national conference, I have long been a research and teaching assitant, free lance math tutor and I was a paid intern at the most important public policy lab. I also have a national academic award. I have an extensive background in mathematics, but I was kicked out of two my country's top 3 best economics master programs so that might have been a red flag. Master GPA 86/100 but in some courses 8=A, 9=A+ and 10=A++ I am certain I had amazing letters of recomendation because two of my recomenders alreadeay got me into 3 very selevtive masters and I got an 10=A++ with the other and was top of his class. Feedback is welcome. The rejection letter told me they received over 750 applications this year and last year the entire GSB PhD accepted 26 people so I guess acceptance rate most around 3%. Congratulations to those who got in!!
