Got a kind, personal email from Kathleen saying I was a member of a group of finalists, but didn’t make the cut.

Letting me know they want to schedule interview this week or next and scheduling email will come later.

Received a kind, but brief personal email from the Literary Manager, in advance of an official rejection letter.

Received an email apologizing for the delay in response and that I should expect to hear back from them on a decision by no later than May 15th.

Weeks after being told over the phone and via email that I would be notified of my status no later than May 15th, I got my rejection notice via email...on May 20th. Given the long delay in response, I assumed I wouldn't be getting in, but the turnaround time and lack of adherence to deadlines was absurd.

I got an email stating they're still reviewing my application and will let me know by 6/1.

Two days after receiving an oddly casual email from the department saying that they "don't think it's going to work out" regarding my admission, I received an email to check my online application portal. I had a more formal letter of rejection waiting for me there.

Was told I made it to the "long shortlist." Asked to interview later this week
