I believe the key to acceptance with a low GPA here was a good letter of motivation and references.

One publication, three research positions, three academic awards, and a summa cum laude thesis at a top 3 US liberal arts college. Currently getting a masters at a top 15 global history program.

Got an email notification to check the portal. Generic letter from GSAS. This one stung a bit as it’s my Alma mater, but life goes on! The program I got into was my top choice, so I’m chalking it up to everything happening for a reason. This application process though? Not for the weak omg 1a/0w/5r/1p

Was waiting for this to come for weeks now and its a bit ridiculous that it took this long with just a short email to check the portal. Hoping I would at least have gotten on the waitlist but now I'm ready to just commit to my top choice that accepted me. By the looks of it I wouldn't be suprised if its a micro sized cohort this year all things considered.

Af Am/American Studies. This concludes the end of my first PhD application cycle. For months my life has revolved around the possibility of being selected for this program, but it is quite nice now to have a little bit of peace. I am accepting that this was not in God's plan for my life and am working to be grateful for the opportunity I have been extended. I am 10 years out of undergrad, with no significant graduate or conference experience. It was always a shot in the dark but I maintain that I was worthy of taking the shot! I learned so much about myself in this application cycle and am thankful for it all. I wish the best for every one being accepted into the program this year and can't wait to cross paths, because we will! :)
