Library And Information Science Graduate School Admission Results

Undergrad degree in English (current senior), committed immediately. Hoping to become an academic librarian but then pursue additional humanities learning (and eventually teaching?) in the future. GRE was 160 V, 151 Q, 5 W.

I am pleased to inform you that the MLIS Admissions Committee has decided to recommend you for admission to the residential mode of the Master of Library and Information Science program for autumn 2022. We thought your application demonstrated your great potential to succeed not only in our program, but in the profession as well.

The letter advised that Valdosta's admissions committee had "thoroughly reviewed" my application materials, but that it was unable to offer me admission to pursue my MLIS degree. When I initiated follow-up, I was told that demand is increasingly competitive for Valdosta's MLIS and that "When we must choose from among a number of equally qualified applicants, we place priority on in-state applications because we are a public, state-funded university and state tax revenues provide a significant portion of our university budget. In competitive admissions scenarios, Georgia residents must take priority when all other aspects of an application are comparable."

Received an email in response to an inquiry about "Decision made" status in portal. The email was not an official notification, which arrived in the mail approximately two weeks later. Author of the email cited a "large number of highly competitive applications," and a policy of prioritizing on "in-state applications" in "competitive admissions scenarios."

Offered $18k scholarship.

No email (yet). Checked on the portal. First documented gradcafe MLIS rejection of the season!

no information on funding, will that come later or does this mean I won't be offered any?

Has anyone heard from UNC's PhD program to set up an interview? Seems like they have been busy with master's admissions, and the application due date was a little later, but just curious.

Applied early decision for online program. My backup school.

Very high GRE analytical writing score, abysmal quant score lol. Average undergrad GPA. But have a solid resume and work experience in the field, more than most incoming MLIS students would have.

Has anyone heard about funding through scholarships or assistantships? UNC is my first choice, but I received a scholarship to a different school so I'm leaning towards there if I'm not receiving anything.
