Graduate School Admission Results

NOT Interview: Has anybody received anything from them so far? They started around 11-12 Jan in previous years.

high energy theory. 10 graduate classes, 3 co-author pubs, 14 single author pubs, 26 invited talks, best friends with lenny susskind. great great grandson of einstein, grandson of ed witten, son of maldacena. letters of rec from lisa randall, isaac newton, and jesus. 12 years old, 8 inches (13 if you count the balls), wanting to pursue a career on wall street.

20 minute call with faculty member to discuss my background and research interests. Not sure how many invites were sent out, but the faculty member who contacted me wasn't someone I listed on my application, so I'm assuming this is a departmental interview round.

Top 10 CS schools in US, full GPA, 1.5 years TA, 2 years research experience (one ICLR accept), 3 strong rec letters (1 teaching + 2 research). No internships after first-year (could be the reason?).

This was a long shot for me, I wasn't expecting much but I got into CMU MSCS anyways so I'm okay with this. Profile: math & CS undergrad at no name school barely top 600 school, 2 FAANG swe internships, 1 T1 research internship, 4yrs TA. Congrats to admits :)

I'm in shock... I applied mainly to PhD programs this round, and this was my only MS application and also my only acceptance (!!). I'm applying straight from undergrad at Berkeley with an unconventional interdisciplinary CS-focused background. I thought that that would be a turn-off but I guess they liked it? I also got a TAship that covers tuition plus a $12,900/quarter salary. I had 4 significant research experiences throughout undergrad, 2 were in CS but not super technical and all were CS-adjacent. I had 1 first-author paper at an ACM conference which won Best Paper, and I had another one in preparation at the time of the application (currently have 4 in prep, 1 under review). Did not submit GRE.

No email was received, status updated on portal. DR < 5 at Top IIT, 1 submission under review at ACL, no research internships.

GRE not required. Non-IIT/BITS/NIT BTech CSE from India, department rank 2. 3 internships (4th one ongoing) and 4 papers. Was a long shot! Congrats to all the admits!

Non-traditional candidate

No email received and see the rejection in my portal. 3 strong LOR from UIUC and 2 papers related to AI and Robotics in submission.
