Graduate School Admission Results

Accepted with full funding. I have rejected the offer.

Guys, what are the odds of getting out of the waitlist, even without funding? Does the waitlist moves a lot???

Email to check portal. Letter says: “ We have reviewed your application to the Economics - A.M. program and are impressed by your credentials. While we cannot offer you admissions at this time, your application is sufficiently strong to allow for the possibility of admission at a later date. Your name has therefore been placed on an alternate list from which we will choose if vacancies occur“

I did not receive any update from Northwestern, either acceptance or rejection. So I emailed them and they replied "At Northwestern, not all admission offers have been made; you are on the waitlist for our program and will receive more formal communication in the future. Please kindly note that the committee will be making decisions through the April 15 deadline and very likely, will not know a determination on your final status until the last week leading up to that date." They also asked me to provide the information of my other offer(s), if any.

Haven't heard from them but see a handful of acceptances and rejections - is this an implicit rejection or a waitlist?

If anyone has taken the Wisconsin interview today and is willing to share any information, please do and thank you very much.

Does anybody know when they have previously sent out the admission decisions? Early-March, mid-March or late-March?

No worries - I really appreciate the information!

Sorry, I didn't ask about rejections, but based on past years I would assume they will come later this week or next week. And my source is fairly confident that we will see admissions today (>90% probability). In past years email was sent mid-afternoon. We'll see!

TBP: I am also international, regular waitlist but not invited to the Open House. It's really random.

TPB: I applied 6+ weeks ago and still haven't heard back from them (Portico says "Application under assessment"). My guess is that the department was probably processing MRes/PhD applications last week (based on posts here), so that might have slowed down the process. Hopefully we'll hear back soon. Best of luck!
