Graduate School Admission Results

ttpb: If you didn't get an acceptance this morning, prepare to receive a rejection email tomorrow. With possible exceptions.

ttpb: last year, people were accepted on the 10th, 11th, 19th and 24th, with some asking in between about whether a second wave of acceptances would be released. Not that history has to repeat itself, but that suggests that there will be more acceptances to come (hopefully, for you and me!)

For masters applicants: if you didn't receive an acceptance today, do you think that means rejection? Or could there possibly be a second round of acceptance?

TTPB No need to think that much. If you have a good profile just think that you did it without MIT and on your own. Do not let one institution define you as you'll be what you are. Additionally, systems can be unfair. I have 7 journal articles and several conferences. Medals and all but I come from a low-rank uni from not so developed country, and my master is in the US is also not from a renowned university. Professors there all have education from best Unis from undergrad to Ph.D. They don't want bad bread in there. They like people from where they are coming from. This is what we would like. Don't we?

TTPB: I know how you feel man, I am in the same situation. Reapplied this year after getting relevant work exp with a strong LOR, rlly strong and improved LORs from undergrad profs at a top 30 uni in the world, decent research experience, a few notable awards, decent stats, took the GRE twice and got a good score then it became not required... At the end of the day, they will always find someone who has better stats/experience or is a better fit, its MIT lol, don't beat yourself up about it. You tried your best and that's what matters, and I am sure you will succeed either way. What I've learnt is to not get too attached to something. Best of luck in your future decisions and career. To the previous commenter, there is no reason for self-harm. I have perfect grades and research experience with publications and did not receive an acceptance. Just know that you're not the only one who didn't receive admission! Do not resort to self-harm for something so trivial.

I have put in a lot of effort for MIT ME and idk what I have not done to make my application competitive. seeing acceptance and rejection makes me feel like I am shit. I feel like unworthy and disappointed. Feel I am not worth a shit. Will harm myself both mentally and physically to let me know I deserve this rejection. Unworthy shit I am.

Did any one receive offer from Computational Science and Engineering ME as home department? Is this the only one wave of acceptances this year?

ttpb: Got my BSc. and MSc. mech eng from ETH Zurich, over one year research experience and one planned publication. Undergrad GPA within top 3%. And good luck for everyone else!

Did any international master applicant receive the admit?

Are all the admitted Masters applicants international ?

Apparently this is the only round of acceptance for PhD students. Others who didn't get accepted today will either be waitlisted or rejected. For those who have been admitted, please make your decision quickly, to spare some chance for waitlisted people. But who declines MIT lol!
