I thought I was a good and tight fit in the department and my POI reached out personally to ask me a few questions about my academic and personal background via email in January. Then radio silence. And then this. I wonder what went wrong tbh. Congrats to those who got in, you deserve it

Got an email telling me to check my portal. Very short rejection message. For context, I got into UCLA and Stony Brook, and I was waitlisted for CUNY and UConn. Syntax

Got an email to check the portal. I did not interview with Yale so it was kind of expected, but also it was not a great research fit and I have already gotten into all my top choices so I'm not torn up about it. Congrats to those accepted!

Email to check the portal. If you worked on cognitive science, socio/psycolinguistics this program is not a good fit. Actually no linguistics program would offer you an admission, unless you work on core linguistics such as syntax, phonology or semantics. So disappointing!!!!

Honestly, this hurts a little because I had been in contact with my POI, and she had been very positive throughout the application season. I don’t know what went wrong (my interests closely align with those of the department and my POI) so I don’t understand why they rejected me without even an interview. Congrats to those who got in, I guess.

No interview, but I admittedly wasn't the best fit for this school. Realized in the past few months I really want to do historical and they don't have a person for that here really. First rejection--good to hear back from someone tho? Congrats to anyone who makes it in
