applied to CMT; 2 first-author publications in CMT, 1 3rd author; I guess I needed a 4.0 too :( just remember guys, the world doesn't own you anything

Subfield: hep-th. 2 publications in JHEP (impact factor of 5). Three Strong LOR's (One from a well-known big shot).

International student (British). Received a rejection email, No interview. Undergrad (Queen Mary) and Masters (UCL) GPA equivalent : 4.0, 2.5 years of research experience, 3 strong LOR's, No publications. Sub field: Hep-th (quantum gravity) It must've been a bad year for international applicants to apply. I'm curious to know whether any international applicants were accepted for hep-th. First rejection :( Waiting for admission results from Stanford, Caltech, Yale and Harvard.

This year's theory is too competitive :(

Experimental cosmology

CMT

HEP-ex. A little bit surprised, got good research experience, 1 paper in CMS as the contact person, and other CMS papers/internal notes as co-authors. Don't know why I got rejected... Does anyone know what's going on in their process?
