Graduate School Admission Results

Chinese female who did her undergrad in the U.S. Got a lot of attention from professors during the interview but was ultimately waitlisted. Maybe I don't have the highest GPA but I have a lot of interest in the field and a killer life story.

TTPB: Saying good luck has no consequence on another's admittance. It's courtesy. And acceptance into these programs is often based on luck. You could be completely qualified and get rejected. Often, admissions committees make mistakes. How many people get admitted each year, how many finish their PhD and how many are successful at research? You honestly don't think acceptance into this program means your H-index is guaranteed to break 100, let alone 50. There's always a bell curve, or more fittingly a pareto distribution with grad student quality. ;) Hope you're the latter.

Saying Good luck to others doesn't make any sense since admissions is zero sum.

Did not get an interview. Do you know of anybody who got hired by David Sontag or Jim Glass? Or any ML+Health admit?

TTPB: Can you please tell if you were accepted for the CS specialization or the EE specialization?

I had 3 strong LoRs from professors in different institutions in the USA. I am currently doing a master's in a highly reputable University in Switzerland with excellent fellowship, I wrote a BS thesis, no publications, I am a Fulbright grantee. Strong essay, two internships in the USA. Exchange program abroad during my BS

TTPB: No, I can assure you that if you have not received notification of waitlist, then at this point you are rejected :( everyone who has a chance of getting in has either been accepted or waitlisted already. The top-tier schools have already notified everyone of acceptance, as well as those who have been waitlisted.

TTPB: That's not true. It's not unusual for MIT to have a much smaller round later in February. Yes, the odds are even worse than they already were, but it is not hopeless.

TTPB: If you haven't received an acceptance yet, you didn't get in. The acceptances were sent out in January. You'll probably receive an email in late February / early March to log-in to the application portal for admission decision (which will be a reject if you haven't heard anything by now).

Has anyone heard from computational biology group, Manolis Kellis or Regina Barzilay

I contacted the POI who interviewed me at MIT EECS. He said the department hasn't sent all decision notifications yet and he is not exactly sure what the official timeline is, and it's very strange that he doesn't know whether I'm rejected, accepted, or waitlisted. So, I guess I will just wait.

Any idea if and when more decisions are coming? Both acceptances and rejections typically came at Feb start but I have not heard anything from them

So berkeley results are out and it seems like no email means 99% rejection. Is it the same with MIT? Also, does MIT interview all candidates?
