Waitlisted by email from Sean. Says the applicant pool was extremely competitive. Additional context: I just graduated from UCLA Luskin’s undergrad program in June.

Recommended for admission. No GRE. Direct work experience in planning. 3 professional LORs (2x city planners, 1x city engineer).

6a/2w/4r/4p. Rejection as expected, but the time of notification (2 am ET, so 11 pm in CA?) not expected. Totally agree with a prior post that we could have been notified much sooner, and in a much more friendly way.

PI recommended application for admission in January

No email, just saw others. "Thank you for applying to graduate study at UCLA. We regret to inform you that you are not being offered admission. UCLA receives many more applications than there are student places available. Each of these applications is carefully reviewed by a departmental faculty committee. In this extremely competitive environment, many talented and promising students are not recommended for admission by these committees. We understand that this decision is disappointing, and again, there are many more applications than there are places available. Emailed to check portal. I knew it’s a rejection since acceptances have been sent out weeks ago, but please, why can’t you let us know as soon as you decided who to accept? Can’t you show some respects to those who got rejected as well?
