If accepted you would take the second semester of the Ph.D. program and move into the program without delay. You also have the option of applying to other programs as well. \r\n\r\nNote that at the end of Semester 2 you may decide that the Ph.D. is not for you after all. There will be many electives that are designed to give you the skills to move into the private sector as an Economist.
